Zara Larsson Turned Pukkelpop Into a Glittery Giggle Fest
Revisit this past weekend’s electrifying Zara Larsson set at Pukkelpop 2026 in Belgium — one full hour of giant pop hooks, glittery glam and, by the finale, one very contagious giggle fest.
Larsson hit the Main Stage on Sunday, August 23, bringing the current Midnight Sun era into full festival mode. The set moved through “Can’t Tame Her,” “Hot & Sexy,” “Ain’t My Fault,” “Pretty Ugly,” “Never Forget You,” “Lush Life” and “Symphony,” bookended by two versions of “Midnight Sun.”
And because we have been watching this pop-star evolution closely, the music is only part of it. Zara’s stage makeup keeps getting bigger, brighter and more curious — vivid color, shimmer, rhinestones and unapologetically theatrical face paint that reads all the way to the back of a festival field.

The Midnight Sun Era Keeps Getting Bigger, Brighter and Bolder
That visual progression is very much intentional. Makeup artist Sophia Sinot has become a major part of Zara’s current stage identity, building looks around bright color, sparkle, rhinestones and a maximal Y2K-meets-showgirl sensibility.
The pair first connected in 2020 through photographer Paul Edwards, and their creative partnership has only gotten more adventurous. Sinot has said Zara gives her enormous freedom to experiment, while Zara has described the makeup as part of the costume and entertainment of the show rather than something meant to disappear quietly into the background.
Now our question remains the same: when is the hair going to start matching the increasingly fearless makeup? We know it is coming. We can feel it.
Then the Pukkelpop Crowd Sent Zara Into a Full Giggle Fit
The most ridiculously joyful moment arrived during the final reprise of “Midnight Sun.” Earlier in the performance, Zara’s dancers lift her into the air as part of the choreography. By the finale, members of the Pukkelpop crowd had apparently decided: fine, we can do that too.
Groups throughout the audience began lifting friends into the air and recreating the move right back at her. Zara spotted what was happening from the stage — and absolutely lost it.
The singer broke into a genuine laughing fit while trying to keep the song moving, at points barely able to get the words out. It turned the end of an already polished festival set into something much better: one of those unscripted live moments where the wall between pop star and crowd suddenly disappears.
The Full Pukkelpop Set Was a One-Hour Pop Workout
Pukkelpop scheduled Zara for the Main Stage from 6:20 to 7:20 p.m., with the performance ultimately running roughly an hour. The festival’s own lineup placed her between S10 earlier in the day and SOMBR later that evening.
The setlist kept the current era front and center while still making space for the catalogue staples. “Lush Life” included its now-familiar fan-onstage dance-break moment, while the closing “Midnight Sun” reprise folded the crowd directly into the spectacle whether anybody planned it or not.
