One small timeline fix from the original draft: the single arrived on November 20, 2020, not 2019. Written by Martín Castro and produced by Alfonso and Joel Lizárraga, the track folds Banda El Recodo’s brass-heavy Sinaloan sound into a more dance-forward, reggaecumbia-leaning groove built to get bodies moving.

The official video was filmed in Mazatlán shortly before the pandemic and leans all the way into the song’s party pulse, with the band surrounded by dancers and choreography. The release also came with a “Bum Bum Bum Challenge,” with Ricardo Yocupicio inviting fans to post their own dances online.
And the response landed. In a December 2020 interview with Telemundo, lead singers Ricardo Yocupicio and Giovanni Mondragón spoke about the song’s reception on YouTube and the excitement around watching another El Recodo track connect digitally. For a band founded back in 1938, staying that current without losing its identity is no tiny feat.
So yes — throwback enough to qualify for a rewind, catchy enough to live in the playlist now. That is exactly why “Bum Bum Bum” gets today’s spin.
