Leslie Jones Roasts America’s Worst Vacation Rentals in HGTV’s ‘Roast My Rental’

Leslie Jones delivers the brutally honest guest review while Jasmine Roth gets just 72 hours to rescue each troubled vacation property.

Leslie Jones Is Checking In With Reviews These Rentals Cannot Delete

Leslie Jones has stayed in enough questionable rentals to know when the listing photos have committed a felony. Now she is taking that experience to HGTV, where misleading amenities, brutal guest reviews and one-star vacation disasters are about to receive a very public reality check.

Roast My Rental pairs the comedian, actress and enthusiastic design critic with renovation expert Jasmine Roth for a makeover series that understands some properties need more than new throw pillows. Jones arrives first to inspect the damage and say exactly what every disappointed guest was too polite — or too busy requesting a refund — to say.

Once the roast is complete, Roth and her team have just 72 hours to repair the hazards, rethink the design and turn each struggling short-term rental into a place guests might willingly book twice. The owners get a shot at redemption, while Jones gets to ask the most important design question of all: What were they thinking?

The format works because Jones is not pretending to be a contractor. She is the voice of the traveler who opened the door, looked around and immediately wondered whether the five-star photos belonged to another address. Cardboard curtains, broken furniture, unsafe stairs, carpeted bathrooms and sleeping areas placed far too close to showers are all fair game.

Roth then has to translate all of that comic outrage into practical design decisions. The Help! I Wrecked My House host brings the building experience, but the compressed timeline makes every project its own emergency. Fresh flooring, safer layouts, repaired furniture, storage solutions and themed spaces all have to come together before the next guests arrive.

Jones described the series as a natural extension of years spent traveling for comedy and seeing rentals that ranged from genuinely great to an immediate “oh hell no.” Her role is not merely to embarrass the owners. The properties are already struggling, and the roast forces everyone to confront why guests are not returning before the renovation offers a way forward.

Across the 11-episode season, Jones and Roth take on a Long Beach dreamhouse filled with broken furniture and questionable decor, a deteriorating Idyllwild cabin, a Temecula cottage with unsafe sleeping space and a Joshua Tree spaceship rental whose theme has drifted completely out of orbit. In other words, HGTV finally found a show where an attractive listing photo should probably be treated as evidence.

The odd-couple pairing gives the series its real spark. Jones reacts like the guest who has reached the end of her patience, while Roth has to look past the chaos and find the home that could still exist underneath it. One brings the punchline, the other brings the power tools, and both appear fully committed to dragging these rentals from one-star problems toward five-star stays.

Roast My Rental premieres Friday, July 24, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on HGTV. New episodes will also be available to stream the following day on HBO Max beginning July 25.
