Pixar enters the feline underworld of Venice.

It does not get much more feline adorable—or suspiciously mob-connected—than Disney and Pixar’s upcoming original film, Gatto.
The first teaser introduces Mark Ruffalo as Nero, a scrappy black cat navigating the canals, superstitions and hidden feline underworld of Venice, Italy.
Laurence Fishburne brings that unmistakable commanding voice to Rocco, a ruthless local mob boss cat who is not interested in hearing excuses.
Nero owes Rocco a serious debt and begins questioning whether he has spent his lives wisely. An unexpected friendship may finally lead him toward a new purpose—unless Venice gets the better of him first.
Nero and Rocco conduct a very catlike interrogation.
The teaser finds Nero and Rocco questioning another frightened cat about the location of some missing tuna.
Nero attempts to deliver a proper tough-guy threat, only to lose every bit of focus when a dangling pull chain enters his line of vision.
Organized crime may be serious business, but a cat is still going to cat.

Gatto reunites director Enrico Casarosa and producer Andrea Warren, the filmmaking team behind Pixar’s Oscar-nominated Luca.
Like that earlier film, this new adventure finds inspiration in Italy. This time, the setting moves from a sunny seaside town into a painterly Venice filled with narrow canals, old superstitions and alley cats running their own secret society.
The brief preview gives away very little about Nero’s unexpected friendship, but it establishes a visual world that feels handmade, atmospheric and completely unlike a standard glossy animated city.
Mark your calendars on us: Gatto arrives exclusively in theaters March 5, 2027.

Mark Ruffalo and Laurence Fishburne voice two Venice alley cats whose intimidating interrogation is no match for one perfectly placed dangling chain.
