Tonight, the Owens sisters brought the magic right into our neck of the woods. Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock arrived at the Los Angeles premiere of Practical Magic 2 on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Directors Village in Westwood — nearly three decades after first becoming Gillian and Sally Owens.
And after the splashier looks from the film’s London stop, Los Angeles got something darker, sharper and far more witchy: Nicole in black Atelier Versace lace and Sandra in custom black-and-white Louis Vuitton. If the Owens women were going to come home to L.A., apparently they were going to dress like the coven had a very good stylist.

Nicole Kidman Went Full Gillian Owens in Atelier Versace
Kidman — Gilly Owens herself — stepped onto the carpet in an asymmetrical black lace Atelier Versace gown with a matching lace choker and heels. The look also marked one of the first major public glimpses of Pieter Mulier’s vision for Versace after taking the creative reins at the house.
It is one of those red-carpet looks that understood the assignment without turning into costume. Black lace, a little darkness, a little drama — just enough Owens energy without anyone showing up carrying a broom.
Sandra Bullock Brought Sally Owens Back in Custom Louis Vuitton
Bullock went the opposite direction from Nicole’s sheer lace, choosing a custom Louis Vuitton black velvet look with a crisp white collar and cuffs. Clean, severe, elegant — and somehow still completely at home standing beside Gilly.
For anyone who has spent the last 28 years treating Practical Magic like seasonal scripture, seeing Bullock and Kidman standing together again is still a little surreal. The original arrived in 1998, became a cult favorite over time, and somehow only grew more beloved while Hollywood took its sweet time figuring out that perhaps people would like these two women back together.
The Practical Magic 2 Cast Brings a New Owens Generation
The L.A. premiere was not only about Nicole and Sandra. They were joined by Joey King and Maisie Williams, who play Sally’s daughters Kylie and Antonia, along with Xolo Maridueña, Solly McLeod and director Susanne Bier.
Returning favorites Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest are also back in the film as Franny and Jet Owens. The sequel draws from Alice Hoffman’s The Book of Magic and sends the Owens sisters back into the family curse as a new generation gets pulled deeper into the magic.
