When Paris Gridlock Meets Naomi Campbell, Apparently the Answer Is Two Wheels

Paris Fashion Week traffic is already its own endurance sport. Add major protest disruption across the city and even Naomi Campbell apparently reaches the point where sitting in a car is no longer happening.

So the supermodel did what any runway legend caught in Paris gridlock might do: grabbed a Lime bike despite having “no riding skills whatsoever.” But before she even gets moving, Naomi starts with something longtime followers will recognize immediately: the disinfecting ritual. Out comes a wipe, followed by a small bottle of hand sanitizer and sterile gloves, because apparently even a protest-traffic emergency does not override hygiene protocol.

Campbell documented the detour herself, writing, “#traffic in Paris .. taking @lime with no riding skills what’so ever,” while thanking Le Jenke and Roxane Lascaridis for the lesson. She also tagged #PFW, #hygiene and, naturally, made sure everyone knew she was wearing Sacai.

The timing makes the whole thing even better. Paris has been dealing with serious disruption as a student protest movement spread across France, bringing demonstrations, school blockades and clashes with police. At the same time, Paris Fashion Week runs through October 6, packing the capital with shows, guests, drivers and the usual fashion-week traffic.

And of course, just as Naomi finally starts her journey, a mom and kid walking on foot cut right across her path. She has barely graduated from disinfecting the bike to attempting forward motion before Paris throws in its first practical exam.

For the unfamiliar, Lime is one of the world’s biggest shared micromobility companies, renting electric bikes and scooters in more than 230 cities across nearly 30 countries. Its current Gen4 e-bike uses a swappable battery and is built for short city trips — exactly the kind of escape hatch one suddenly appreciates when traffic stops cooperating.

Thus: one of the most famous runway walkers in history suddenly having to learn how to navigate Paris on an electric bike because the streets have become a mess. And Naomi knows exactly where her expertise begins and ends: she can teach you how to “walk,” but not how to ride a bike.

She can teach you to walk. The bike lesson? Absolutely not.

Then comes the visual payoff: Naomi teeters along on the bike with those famously long legs, impressively large feet in flats, and all the elegance of someone discovering balance in real time. It is somehow both deeply glamorous and completely ridiculous — which is exactly why the clip is so funny.

And yes, Campbell still managed to make the whole emergency commute look considerably more fashionable than ours ever would. At least she was dressed correctly for it.

Naomi did not pretend she had gracefully mastered the bike either — which is exactly why the clip lands. No polished supermodel mythology, just Paris traffic, a Lime, a disinfecting wipe, hand sanitizer, sterile gloves and Naomi Campbell reminding everyone that runway walking and two-wheel transportation are very different skill sets.
