Present Day-Developments: One Squirrel Just Turned Halloween Decor Into Nesting Material
Autumn has officially arrived, and one squirrel in Simpsonville, South Carolina, apparently decided spooky season should come with a little home improvement.
Kristen Gimma was working from her home office when she noticed a squirrel tugging at the netting on one of her Halloween decorations. What first looked like a little curious adjusting quickly turned into a full-on materials pickup: the squirrel worked the netting loose, folded it up and carried it into a tree toward its nest.
Gimma told Storyful that at first it was “just a squirrel like usual.” Then came the realization that the tiny seasonal decorator was not browsing — it was borrowing permanently. As Gimma put it: “Then he folded it and ran off with it!”
The clip is one of those perfectly timed autumn moments where backyard wildlife meets Halloween decor and somehow comes out looking more organized than the humans. A DIY repurpose for the nest? Apparently so.
