THE ILLUSTRATED MAN Releases Debut Album The Skin Of Time.
THE ILLUSTRATED MAN has officially opened his next chapter with the release of his debut album, The Skin Of Time, through ILINX Records.

Released on June 12, 2026, the 11-track project moves through atmospheric house, indie dance, melodic techno and flashes of harder electro-industrial sound.
Its polished production creates an immersive journey, with the tracks flowing together more like chapters in one evolving story than a collection of unrelated club releases.
This is electronic music constructed like cinema: patient world-building, mounting tension and dramatic movement designed to leave images behind.

Science fiction becomes an evolving electronic identity.
Behind THE ILLUSTRATED MAN is producer Mikhail Iailian. Born in Yerevan, Armenia, and now based in Dubai, he built the project around a fusion of cinema, visual art and literary science fiction.
The name draws inspiration from Ray Bradbury’s The Illustrated Man, replacing stories etched into a character’s skin with narratives embedded inside sound.

The Skin Of Time follows that idea without forcing the record into one traditional storyline. Instead, it moves through emotional and existential states—from absence and awakening to tension, fragmentation and eventual dissolution.
Expansive rhythms are surrounded by mechanical textures, industrial details, atmospheric synths and dramatic sound design. At moments, the sheer scale may bring INYIM favorite Woodkid to mind—not because the projects sound identical, but because both use production to construct theatrical worlds inside the listener’s head.
The stories are no longer written across skin. They pulse, fracture and transform across the speakers.
Three collaborations reveal the album’s expanding range.
Three collaborations helped introduce the album’s expanding range. Dance of Shadows and The Heart of Fire arrived as pre-release singles, while When Everything Is Said serves as the album’s release-day focus track.
- Dance of Shadows — with Sasha Carassi featuring Aquarius Heaven
- The Heart of Fire — featuring house music pioneer Robert Owens
- When Everything Is Said — with Sasha Carassi featuring Jonatan Bäckelie
Dance of Shadows with Sasha Carassi featuring Aquarius Heaven.
Dance of Shadows introduced the album’s hypnotic and cinematic direction through a collaboration with Italian producer Sasha Carassi and the expressive vocals of Aquarius Heaven.
Aquarius Heaven is the electronic project of Brian Brewster, a Berlin-based vocalist with roots in reggae, dancehall and hip-hop. Raised between Texas and the Caribbean before finding his way into the European electronic scene, Brewster brings a warm, lived-in vocal presence to the track’s darker production.

The Heart of Fire featuring Robert Owens.
The Heart of Fire connects THE ILLUSTRATED MAN’s modern underground production with the unmistakable voice of Chicago house pioneer Robert Owens.
Owens carries decades of house history into the album without turning the collaboration into a retro exercise. His soulful delivery settles naturally into Iailian’s sleek, emotionally charged sound design.
Listen as Robert Owens brings classic Chicago house spirit into THE ILLUSTRATED MAN’s cinematic electronic world.
When Everything Is Said with Sasha Carassi featuring Jonatan Bäckelie.
The album’s complete release places the focus on its closing chapter, When Everything Is Said, which reunites THE ILLUSTRATED MAN with Carassi and features Swedish singer, songwriter and electronic producer Jonatan Bäckelie.
Atmospheric pads rise beneath crisp percussion as Bäckelie’s commanding vocal turns the finale from a detailed melodic-house production into a fully realized song.
After ten tracks of transformation, the final voice arrives to ask what remains when everything has finally been said.

The album also brings in Mønölitio on The Ashes of King and Nat James on Broken Mechanism, widening its vocal and stylistic range without disturbing the conceptual flow.
