The VMAs Ended. The Los Angeles Side Quests Kept Going.
The 2026 MTV VMAs came and went, with Madonna, Taylor Swift and a whole lot of Moon Person business taking over the broadcast. But the Video Music Awards were also back in our neck of the woods of Los Angeles, inside the Peacock Theater, which meant some of the best little moments were happening around the show instead of on the main stage.
So for this Sunday wrap-up, we’re staying with the side-eye, carpet crossovers, backstage run-ins and post-show double takes: Paris and Nicky Hilton, Teyana Taylor, RAYE, PinkPantheress and Charli xcx all orbiting the same VMA universe for one night.

Paris and Nicky Hilton Bring the Double Razzle-Dazzle
Spotted: Paris Hilton and Nicky Hilton bringing double the razzle-dazzle to the awards carpet. Paris had official presenter duties during the show, but the sister moment was pure Hilton shorthand — glossy, camera-ready and somehow still giving us the feeling that somebody is about to whisper a piece of gossip just out of frame.
The whole thing was very much a reminder that VMAs fashion has always worked best when people treat the carpet like part awards show, part nightclub entrance and part reunion nobody knew was happening until the photos started landing.
Charli xcx Connects RAYE and Paris Hilton — Because Of Course
Charli xcx just out here introducing the future of music to herstory already made. One of our favorite little VMA crossovers found Charli connecting RAYE and Paris Hilton in the middle of the night’s chaos — three completely different pop lanes suddenly sharing the same frame.
It also made perfect sense for this particular VMA. Charli arrived as both a presenter and multi-category nominee, while RAYE made her first VMA performance appearance during the show. Paris, meanwhile, remains Paris: part pop-culture institution, part walking time capsule, and somehow still able to make a random hallway meet-up feel like an event.
The official VMA photo pool caught the trio together as well, so this wasn’t just a blink-and-you-missed-it social moment. Charli, RAYE and Paris genuinely became one of the night’s stranger and better pop combinations.
Teyana Taylor and RAYE Find Each Other Between the Big Moments
Another crossover we loved: Teyana Taylor and RAYE were photographed together during the ceremony. Teyana was on presenter duty while RAYE was juggling her own performance night, which makes their meeting exactly the kind of tiny awards-show collision we like catching after the obvious headlines have already been written.
That is really the fun of a VMA night in Los Angeles. The official lineup tells you who is performing, presenting and collecting trophies; the hallways and photo pits tell you who actually found each other once everybody was in the building.
Charli xcx and PinkPantheress Do the Double-Triple Take
And then there was Charli xcx and PinkPantheress doing a double-triple take after the show. PinkPantheress came into the night with “Stateside” in the mix across several categories, including its eventual Best Art Direction win with Zara Larsson, while Charli’s “SS26” was also scattered through the nominations.
Their run-in had none of the stiffness of an arranged carpet photo. It was simply two artists from overlapping but very different corners of pop catching each other in the VMA afterglow — the kind of moment that tells you more about the actual room than another wide shot of the stage ever could.
