One Year Later, Zara Larsson’s Midnight Sun Is Still Glowing

Zephyring one year back, Zara Larsson unleashed Midnight Sun on September 26, 2025 — a bright, tightly wound pop record that wound up having a much longer life than release week alone.

Released through Zara’s Sommer House imprint under exclusive license to Epic Records, the 10-track album arrived with longtime collaborator MNEK, producer Margo XS and songwriter Helena Gao helping shape a project that moved between lovestruck, cocky, wistful and uncertain without losing its sugar-rush pop center.

“Pretty Ugly” Kicked the Door Open

The album’s attitude was there from the jump with “Pretty Ugly.” Built with Margo XS and MNEK, the chant-heavy cut introduced an era that was polished without feeling too precious — big pop, but with enough bite around the edges to keep it from behaving.

Then the Title Track Became the Long-Game Hit

“Midnight Sun” turned out to have serious legs. The title track kept building well beyond the album’s September 2025 arrival and eventually climbed into the UK Top 10, peaking at No. 7 on the Official Singles Chart in 2026.

That slow-burn rise is part of what makes the one-year mark feel different from a simple anniversary post. Midnight Sun didn’t just arrive, peak and disappear; parts of it kept finding new audiences months later. Even the album itself resurfaced across the UK’s physical and vinyl charts in 2026.

Midnight Sun Was Small, Sharp and Built to Replay

At 10 tracks, the record never had much interest in overstaying its welcome. “Blue Moon,” “Girl’s Girl,” “Eurosummer,” “Hot & Sexy,” “The Ambition,” “Saturn’s Return” and “Puss Puss” filled out an album that could pivot from glossy confidence into vulnerability without turning the whole thing into a thesis statement.

One year later, the album’s strongest trick may be how little it feels trapped in its release date. The singles kept moving, the title track found a second life, and Zara’s summer-pop universe kept expanding instead of closing the door behind the campaign.
