Two Years Later, This Brat-Era Collision Still Sounds Like a Dare

In the blink of an eye! Zephyring two years, Charli xcx’s “Guess featuring Billie Eilish” turns two years old—still bratty, still teasing and still capable of making an underwear drawer feel like breaking news.

The remix arrived on August 1, 2024, bringing Billie into a track Charli had first released solo on the expanded edition of Brat. The pairing did not arrive with a polite handshake. It kicked the door open with whispered tension, mutual provocation and a music video built around a literal storm of bras and underwear.

The commercial response was immediate. “Guess” debuted at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the highest-charting song from the Brat campaign in the United States. It also reached No. 1 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, opened at No. 3 on the Billboard Global 200 and landed at No. 5 on Global Excl. U.S.

And because the song had already turned one very specific question into a full pop event, the official video pushed the bit all the way. Directed by Aidan Zamiri, it placed Charli and Billie inside the visual language of the track while using enough undergarments to stock a department-store floor. Those items were then donated to I Support the Girls, which distributes bras, underwear and menstrual-hygiene products to people experiencing homelessness, poverty or distress.

The collaboration also earned a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards. It did not win—the award went to Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars for “Die With a Smile”—but Charli still closed the ceremony with “Von dutch” and “Guess,” turning the Grammy stage into a final blast of Brat-season chaos.

The song refused to stay trapped inside its release week. In April 2025, Billie joined Charli at Coachella for a live performance of “Guess,” one of several surprise collaborations during Charli’s festival set. The moment turned an already viral remix into something communal: thousands of people shouting along to a song built around curiosity, obsession and knowing exactly how much information to withhold.

Two years on, “Guess” still captures what made the Brat chapter work so well. It was funny without being disposable, provocative without losing the production, and collaborative without sanding either artist into the other. Charli brought the dare. Billie answered it. Pop culture supplied the green backdrop.

The Coachella reunion gave “Guess” another peak moment, but the two-year mark belongs to the original drop—the surprise pairing, the Aidan Zamiri video and the instant realization that this was not going to remain a bonus-track curiosity.
