Rombaut Has Been Building Its Own Future Since 2013
Established in Paris in 2013 by Belgian designer Mats Rombaut, the namesake label was founded around a simple challenge to the fashion system: make forward-looking footwear and accessories without relying on animal products.
Rombaut still describes itself as 100% vegan, working with plant-based materials, recycled fibers and alternative leathers while treating sustainability less like a decorative talking point and more like part of the design brief itself.
Vegan Does Not Mean Visually Quiet Here
The appeal has always been that Rombaut does not ask its materials to look apologetic. The brand’s footwear can be strange, sculptural, severe or almost retrofuturistic, drawing on familiar shoe shapes only to bend them somewhere less expected.
That is where You & Who? lands for us this Thursday: less about explaining every idea and more about sitting inside the texture of it — movement, pause, surface, silhouette and that slightly uneasy future Rombaut has made its own.
