Back to the Future: Amerie gives “1 Thing” a new-generation spin
R&B songbird Amerie is taking one of her most unmistakable 2000s records back into the future, putting her signature touch on 2Rare’s upcoming single, “Buss Down (1 Thing).”
The title alone makes the connection clear: the new track reaches back to Amerie’s 2005 classic “1 Thing,” the kinetic single from her sophomore album, Touch, and brings that familiar energy into a new generation without pretending the original ever stopped hitting.
The announcement credits Hitmaka with production on “Buss Down (1 Thing),” pairing 2Rare with Amerie for a release built around one of the singer’s defining records. More than two decades later, “1 Thing” remains one of those songs that needs only a few seconds to announce itself.
“Buss Down (1 Thing)” is set to arrive Friday, Oct. 2.
