One of Our Favorite Texas Songs Still Hits Bright

Texas delivered a stellar-bright performance of “Mr Haze” at BBC Radio 2 in the Park 2026 — and yes, this one gets a little extra INYIM love because it remains one of our favorite songs from the band.
The Scottish favorites played the Saturday, September 12 bill at City Park in Stirling, part of Radio 2’s three-day flagship live music weekend running September 11–13. Texas shared the day with Chaka Khan, The Script, Emeli Sandé, ABC, Jack Savoretti and Lulu.

Texas Bring the Haze Back Home
One of our favorite Texas tracks gets the big outdoor treatment in Scotland, with “Mr Haze” sounding every bit as bright and dance-ready as it did in 2021.

Released in 2021 on the band’s tenth studio album, Hi, “Mr Haze” has always had that immediate sugar-rush quality: pop, soul and disco rubbing together until sitting still becomes fairly pointless.
A big part of that glow comes from its use of Donna Summer’s “Love’s Unkind.” Sharleen Spiteri has explained that the band tried the sample against an older Texas idea and everything suddenly clicked, helping reveal the disco-soul side of the track. She has also joked that when they play it live, people inevitably start dancing.
That makes Stirling a particularly nice setting for it. Radio 2 in the Park landed in central Scotland this year with tens of thousands of fans expected across the weekend, giving Texas a properly home-country crowd for a song that already feels built to lift a field.
Five years on from Hi, “Mr Haze” still does exactly what we loved about it in the first place: brightens the room, loosens the shoulders and gets out before the sugar wears off.
