Tinashe Keeps “Popstar” Wide Awake With the Frenetic “Melatonin”

New Music Video! Miss Tinashe is wide awake and back on the dance floor with “Melatonin,” the latest single and visual from her upcoming album Popstar.

Do not let the title fool you. There is nothing sleepy about this one. “Melatonin” races through jittery electronic production from Zack Sekoff, Nightfeelings and Ricky Reed, while Tinashe flips the word itself into a read for anybody sleeping on her.

“Melatonin” follows “Too Easy” and “Crash Out” as the third preview of Popstar, which arrives September 25 via Nice Life, Atlantic Records and Tinashe Music.

Tinashe Turns “Melatonin” Into a Celebration of Dance

Directed by 91 Rules with creative direction from Tinashe, the visual puts movement at the center. Ballet, hip-hop and ballroom dancers move through the clip alongside Tinashe as she switches between choreography, party scenes and a run of gloriously oversized looks.

It is bold, strange, fast and fashion-heavy — which sounds just about right for a song called “Melatonin” that seems determined to keep everybody up instead.
