A 2005 R&B staple gets rewired for 2026 as 2Rare links with Amerie herself for a proper cross-generational update.

Philadelphia-bred, platinum-certified rapper 2Rare officially released “Buss Down (1 Thing)” with two-time GRAMMY-nominated R&B sensation Amerie on October 2, 2026. The single landed through Epic Records / Against Thee Grain and arrived with the accompanying official music video.
The connection is a little more meaningful than a quick nostalgia grab. 2Rare has said “1 Thing” came out when he was five years old and that he grew up hearing Amerie through his mother. Two decades later, he is not just sampling the record — he is standing beside the woman who made it.

Director BAHSPOV handles the visual, matching the record’s bright, kinetic throwback-meets-now energy. And because Amerie is actually present — vocally and visually — the whole thing lands less like a borrowed hook and more like a proper handoff between eras.
Track spin: Amerie’s original “1 Thing” arrived in 2005 on Touch and became one of her signature records. “Buss Down (1 Thing)” rebuilds that instantly recognizable rhythmic backbone around 2Rare’s melodic rap delivery while letting Amerie revisit the source material with fresh vocals of her own.
Now this is how you bring a classic forward without pretending the original artist vanished somewhere in the clearance paperwork.
