She’s back! The world sends us back to Ashe, an original INYIM Pop Kitten, and suddenly everything feels a little more colorful. Little did we know that while driving down the 10/110 freeway to South Central L.A., we would be greeted by a HUGE ASS LED screen advertising ASHE. A few hours later, we got the premiere of her new “Lasso The Moon” music video. We do love it when the city and our music obsessions align.

The song and video arrived on October 16, 2026, the same day as her fourth studio album, The Girl Of Your Dreams, released through Atlantic Records. What a way to welcome us into the next chapter: it’s variety-show pop-rock with strings, sunshine and happiness, all wrapped in a fun mid-’70s radio sound. Such a cute little video, too. And yes, her cutie husband is in it! Welcome back, momma Ashe!

An Old-Fashioned Pop Love Letter With a Big, Happy Heart

There’s something so joyfully old-fashioned about “Lasso The Moon.” It has the bounce of an afternoon AM-radio discovery, the theatrical sweetness of a television variety hour and the lush musical details to make it feel much bigger than a simple throwback. You can hear that affection for old-school pop in the strings, piano and bright horn colors; the arrangement is full of life without losing the sweetness of Ashe’s voice. It’s all very charming, and we mean that as the highest compliment.

This isn’t nostalgia simply for nostalgia’s sake. On an album that also makes room for the dramatic “Stop The Wedding!” and the more tender moments of her personal storytelling, “Lasso The Moon” sounds like someone having genuine fun being in love. Ashe has described writing the song shortly after getting married, while she was in a playful, happy chapter of her life. She reunited with Noah Conrad and Casey Smith, collaborators from “Moral of the Story,” to write the track — a reunion that helped set the tone for the record.

Directed by Silken Weinberg, With a Special Appearance From Her Husband

Director Silken Weinberg brings that sense of romance and play to the official music video. It has the lighthearted, retro-entertainment charm the song deserves, without taking itself so seriously that the fun gets lost. One particularly sweet touch is the appearance of Ashe’s cutie husband, musician John Clark Canada, making the whole thing feel a little closer to the real love story behind the record.

There’s a lovely contrast here with the Ashe we first met through the ache of “Moral of the Story.” That earlier song came out of a difficult marriage; now she’s making room for music that can be theatrical, mischievous and downright happy. She hasn’t abandoned the big feelings. She has simply found some different ones worth singing about.

A New Album, a Familiar Voice, and Plenty of Joy

The eleven-song The Girl Of Your Dreams includes “Stop The Wedding!,” “Stardust,” “Love Bomb,” “Sunburn” and “Funeral,” with “Lasso The Moon” appearing as its second track. It also reunites Ashe with producer Noah Conrad, a key collaborator from her earlier career. For us, the joy is hearing an artist we’ve loved for years take all that vintage pop inspiration and make it sound completely at home in her own world.

The video has that sweet, slightly off-kilter spirit we’ve always enjoyed about Ashe — playful, cinematic and irresistibly poptastic. It’s the kind of song you can imagine turning up on the radio, catching the chorus and immediately wanting to hear it again.

You can see even more of the video’s throwback styling and candy-colored mood in the images above, all from the official release.

Ashe is having her moment, and we are very happy to be along for the ride. Bring on more strings, more old-fashioned showbiz and more of that wonderful pop kitten magic.
