Leslie opened up about attending the Essence Black Women in Hollywood celebration — a night she described as deeply inspiring. Surrounded by women doing the work and lifting each other up, she felt like she was finally in a room where she truly belonged.

Leslie Jones makes a Zendaya outfit compliment feel like a full victory lap

On Jennifer Hudson’s couch, Leslie brings the laugh, the volume, the fashion joy, and the kind of self-love energy that turns one great story into a whole mood.

Of course, she had jokes about her look. Someone told her she looked like she was headed to Easter Sunday, and she immediately shut that down with classic Leslie energy. But the best part? Zendaya loved her outfit. Leslie lit up retelling the moment, calling Zendaya incredibly sweet and genuinely touched by the compliment.

She also shared a hilarious encounter with Delroy Lindo, slipping him her sweat towel because he “looked like he needed it,” and then being shocked when he was honored she asked for a photo. “You’re royalty to me,” she told him.

Leslie talked about the joy of being surrounded by her people — Laverne Cox, Niecy Nash, Anthony Anderson — a table full of laughter, clowning, and pure comfort. She said she didn’t feel out of place for once; she felt rejuvenated, walking into that room and remembering, “Okay, it’s not for nothing.”

Jennifer then took her back to Ghostbusters, now a decade old. Leslie remembered nonstop running with those heavy proton packs, losing 33 pounds, and laughing through every chaotic moment — including Melissa McCarthy trying to act out a helicopter during Heads Up. She admitted she never rewatched the movie until recently, and when she finally did, she found herself thinking, “Man, that movie was actually really funny.”

And in true Leslie fashion, she ended with a pitch: if she ever does a scary movie, she wants to be the killer — the landscaper with the trimmer, casually holding the murder weapon while talking to the cops. Her villain name? Freda.

Leslie Jones stays a national treasure — funny, grounded, and always ready to turn a story into a sermon, a joke, or both.
