Everybody Wants Advice Until Yamaneika Starts Telling The Truth

Yamaneika and Tyree are back in your business — and this week the listener letters came with family drama, friendship paranoia and a neighborhood parking war.
The latest episode of You’re The Problem… with Yamaneika starts with one of those questions that sounds simple until everybody in the blended family starts having feelings: does a stepparent have to love your children exactly like their own?
From there, Yamaneika Saunders and Tyree move through a gorgeous-friend Instagram conspiracy, a father dating someone his daughter’s age, and finally a neighborhood dispute that somehow manages to involve Costco groceries, gentrification, folding chairs and the sacred politics of minding your damn business.

Do Stepparents Really Have To Love Everybody Equally?
The episode’s first listener question goes straight for blended-family expectations. A stepparent is being asked, essentially, whether joining the family means every emotional bond has to arrive at exactly the same level.
Yamaneika and Tyree do what the show does best: take the polite version of the question, drag the unspoken expectations into the light and start asking who is actually being reasonable. Caring for a child, showing up for them and treating them fairly are real responsibilities — but feelings do not always arrive on command just because somebody changed their relationship status.
That is the sweet spot of You’re The Problem: the question may belong to one listener, but within about thirty seconds everybody listening has somebody in mind.
Then Comes The Gorgeous Friend, The Dad And The Instagram Crop
At about the two-and-a-half-minute mark, the show pivots to a listener wondering whether a gorgeous friend is strategically sabotaging her on Instagram. Yamaneika, naturally, has experience with gorgeous friends and plenty to say about what happens when friendship, vanity and a bad photo crop collide.
Next up: your father is dating someone your age. Is that automatically your problem? The conversation quickly gets into the weirdness of age-gap dating, family boundaries and the uncomfortable reality that another adult’s romantic choices may irritate you without technically belonging to you.
A Parking Spot Sends Yamaneika Straight Into Harlem Warfare
Then the episode takes the turn only a Yamaneika story can take. A listener question about who “owns” a neighborhood parking spot sends her into her own battle with a new neighbor — and suddenly we are dealing with groceries, Costco, curb politics and the unwritten rules of a block.
By the time gentrification and folding chairs enter the conversation, the original parking question has become something bigger: how much should a newcomer respect the social rules that were already there before they arrived?
Yamaneika’s answer, in spirit, is wonderfully uncomplicated. Sometimes the problem is not the parking spot. Sometimes the problem is arriving somewhere new and immediately behaving like everybody else needs to reorganize themselves around you.
