Zendaya Shares She Got “Really Lightheaded” While Wearing Viral Mugler Robotic Bodysuit Back In February.
"Zendaya revealed just how committed she was to wearing the iconic vintage Mugler robot bodysuit at the Dune: Part Two world premiere in London on Feb. 15.
The Euphoria star recently shared the story behind the memorable red carpet moment during Vogue‘s “Life in Looks” video series.
Zendaya said she initially pitched the idea of her wearing the chrome bodysuit from the 1995 Mugler Couture collection to her stylist Law Roach, though he didn’t believe her at first. “He was like, ‘Are you being serious?'” she recalled of their conversation. “‘Don’t play with me! Don’t get me started on something and make me do this, and you’re going to chicken out at the last minute and be too scared to wear it.'”
The pair were able to score a fitting of the archival design with one of the men who created the look in the ’90s, however, they weren’t sure if it was going to fit due to the suit’s specific proportions. But the Challengers star said the armor actually “fit like a glove,” which she took as a sign that it was “meant to be.”
As the world premiere for the Denis Villeneuve-directed film approached, Zendaya admitted that she started thinking it may be a “bad idea” because of some difficulties that came with wearing a metal bodysuit.
“Immediately after wearing it for 10 minutes or less than that, I got really lightheaded,” the Spider-Man: No Way Home star explained. “The metal conducts and holds onto heat very quickly and kind of traps heat in. I’m wearing a complete bodysuit so there’s a barrier so you already have a layer of material on your skin. As the days were coming up, I was like, ‘This is a bad idea. Like why did I do this?'”
But the actress was committed to pulling off the viral moment, adding, “I put it on, I went out there and I did it.”
Zendaya didn’t stay in the metal armor long, eventually changing into a black Mugler gown for the rest of the Dune: Part Two premiere." - Hollywoodreporter.com
