The Odyssey Cast Gets Candid Playing ‘Who Even Am I?’ on MTV UK

The Game Gets Chaotic, But The Cast Stories Go Much Deeper

Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway and Matt Damon sit down for MTV UK Movies’ “Who Even Am I?”—a simple card game that lasts about three questions before becoming a wonderfully unruly cast hang.

The premise has each actor holding up the name of a co-star or former collaborator and asking yes-or-no questions until they identify the person. What actually happens is much better: Holland worries about whether Pattinson is ugly, Pattinson forgets what his latest film was, Zendaya wonders whether everyone thinks she is judging them, and Damon starts telling stories that could easily become their own movies.

They only complete six cards because, as the cast admits, they talk too much. Thankfully, that is exactly where the good material lives.

Holland draws Robert Pattinson first and immediately asks, “Am I ugly?” The table assures him that Pattinson is definitely not, before Zendaya describes her co-star as an “agent of chaos” who is fearless enough to get strange with a role even when he knows the audience may hate his character. She also reveals that Ben Affleck saw The Odyssey and apparently went on and on about Pattinson’s performance.

Pattinson returns the respect later when he lands on Zendaya. After briefly derailing the game by asking whether she is an animal, he calls her “divine and powerful” as Athena and praises the way she holds the screen. Damon adds a more revealing production detail: Zendaya had to parachute into highly emotional scenes while moving between Euphoria and Nolan’s completely different world, without the luxury of settling into the film’s rhythm. He calls her talented, kind and deeply professional.

One of the richest stories arrives when Holland identifies Jon Bernthal. The longtime friends filmed each other’s audition tapes while working together years ago—Bernthal helped Holland with Spider-Man, and Holland returned the favor for The Punisher. Holland says his first reading was fairly straightforward until Bernthal pushed him to show off the gymnastics and dance training he had carried all his life. They added backflips, side flips and a small fight sequence, giving Holland the competitive edge that may have helped land him the role.

The game also pulls out a surprisingly detailed Matt Damon and Ben Affleck moment. Damon describes Affleck as one of the great loves of his life after 45 years of friendship and says Affleck called him after seeing The Odyssey, then spoke for an hour as though he had already watched the film 20 times. He had absorbed the details in one viewing.

Damon’s toughest critic, however, remains his daughter Isabella. He remembers her repeatedly calling his 2016 fantasy film The Great Wall simply The Wall. When he corrected her, she replied, “Dad, there’s nothing great about that movie.” So when Isabella watched The Odyssey and told him she was proud, Damon knew he had already won.

Holland offers another behind-the-scenes detail that deserves more attention. While filming, he heard Damon screaming and making alarming noises in the trailer next door. Holland briefly wondered whether his famously nice co-star had become a complete psycho—or was having a catastrophic bathroom experience. Damon was actually roughening and exhausting his voice to sound older for the sequence in which Odysseus is tied to the mast. Holland jokes that the commitment sounded as though Damon were shaving years off his life.

The Odyssey Cast Lets The Cards Get Personal

The gallery catches the cast laughing, second-guessing clues and turning a quick game into a full tour of their working relationships.

Anne Hathaway gets an Emily Blunt card and talks about the joy of reuniting for The Devil Wears Prada 2. Hathaway admits there had been a fear that the cast might be holding onto something audiences no longer cared about. That disappeared when crowds kept growing around the set and international fan events filled up. Because she made the original film in her early 20s, she says the sequel felt less like a return than a reunion with an audience that had grown up alongside her.

Zendaya’s Colman Domingo story is quieter but just as revealing. She says she would light up whenever Ali appeared in an Euphoria script because it meant another scene with Domingo. Emotional work that normally causes her to stress becomes easy opposite him; she describes locking in with him, riding the scene like a wave and never needing to force the tears.

The game even uncovers the cast’s first-day nerves. Holland remembers beginning his Nolan experience with Lupita Nyong’o and Bernthal during an intensely demanding shoot. The three went to dinner afterward and felt, despite all their experience, as though they had stepped onto a film set for the first time. Damon similarly credits Hathaway for carrying him through their most challenging scenes, saying he only had to look into her eyes and let her take him away.

For all the mythology, IMAX scale and prestige surrounding The Odyssey, this little game finds something more useful than another polished promotional answer: a cast that genuinely likes one another, pays attention to the work and cannot resist turning every clue into a story. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey arrives in theaters July 17, 2026.
