Juliette Armanet turns a radio studio into her own little disco
A Performance Choice of the Day starring Juliette Armanet and the deliciously pulsating “Tu me play.”
The French pop chanteuse stopped by RFM’s studios and turned the room into a compact little disco, giving the track a looser live pulse while still letting that bright, romantic hook do exactly what it was built to do.
Released on November 19, 2021 as part of Armanet’s second studio album, Brûler le feu, “Tu me play” is one of the record’s cheekiest love songs — a French-English title mash-up that says everything before the first verse even gets moving.

“Tu me play” Is Exactly the Kind of Phrase Pop Needed
The title alone is pure Armanet: “Tu me play” takes the French “tu me plais” — roughly, “I like you” or “you please me” — and bends it into the English word play. Cute, slightly ridiculous and immediately memorable.
That bilingual wink fits a song built around attraction, movement and the little rush of realizing somebody has completely rearranged the atmosphere around you. Juliette wrote the lyrics and co-composed the track with Victor Le Masne, while producers including Yuksek, Marlon B and Julien Delfaud helped give it that sleek pop propulsion.

Brûler le feu followed Armanet’s breakthrough debut Petite Amie and leaned harder into dance-floor color, big melodic gestures and the kind of glossy French pop that still leaves room for piano, strings and old-school chanson drama.
RFM described the album at the time as sunny, emotional and danceable, with Armanet surrounding herself with collaborators including SebastiAn, Julien Delfaud, Yuksek, Victor Le Masne and Marlon B. “Tu me play” sat right inside that world: upbeat enough to strut to, romantic enough to swoon over and just strange enough to remain unmistakably hers.

Armanet visited RFM in April 2022 and performed both “Tu me play” and “Imaginer l’amour” live in the station’s studios as Brûler le feu continued its run.
For “Tu me play,” the studio setting strips away the larger visual spectacle of the official roller-disco music video and puts the focus back on the song itself — the rhythm, the vocal phrasing and Armanet’s ability to make even a radio-room performance feel like it has somewhere to go.
