Just in. Madonna is the Summer 2026 cover star of Interview Magazine, and the Queen of Pop has entered yet another character chapter.

Photographed by Nadia Lee Cohen and styled by Mel Ottenberg, the cover story marks Madonna’s eleventh time on the cover of Interview, more than any other star in the magazine’s history.

For the shoot, Madonna transformed into Dee Dee, a vivacious, hard-living broad with big hair, endless prosecco and rock-and-roll chaos turned all the way up. It is pure Madonna theater: part character study, part glamour collision, part wink from an artist who still understands the power of becoming someone else in front of the camera.

The next afternoon, after an early listen to her upcoming Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II, Madonna sat down at her London home with Mel Ottenberg for a sprawling 90-minute conversation touching on faith, cinema, making music, prayer, desire, nutritional yeast and the kind of creative survival only Madonna can narrate.

The interview arrives as Madonna is once again circling the dance floor as a spiritual and artistic space. In the conversation, she speaks about returning to the Confessions world with Stuart Price, channeling club energy, and building new music from grief, family, memory and movement.

What makes the spread pop is that it does not try to sand Madonna down into a polite legacy figure. Cohen’s lens leans into performance, artifice, character, glamour and uncanny star power, while Ottenberg’s conversation lets Madonna be funny, blunt, reflective and still allergic to predictability.

Even after decades of myth-making, Madonna still understands the assignment: give them a look, give them a character, give them a quote, give them a reason to keep arguing, dancing and paying attention.

The gallery continues Madonna’s Dee Dee transformation through big-hair glamour, cinematic styling and Nadia Lee Cohen’s surreal pop-star world-building.

Madonna has always treated fashion as evidence, armor and spellwork. Here, the clothes help tell the story of an artist who can still build a full character from a wig, a mood, a soundtrack and a room willing to keep up.

For a star whose career has been built on transformation, Dee Dee feels less like a costume and more like the latest door Madonna decided to kick open.
