Thursday Slips From House Heat Into a Sugar-Coated Trap

Come Thru Vocals new music discoveries selected by INYIM Media

J. Worra’s “Adored” and Jae Stephens’ “Sugar Trap” give Thursday two completely different ways to get pulled in. One works through sleek, underground house pressure; the other turns flirtation into bright, bass-heavy pop with a wink and a warning label.

Two tracks. Two discoveries. One daily detour.

Come Thru Vocals is INYIM’s long-running daily music discovery series spotlighting voices and songs worth hearing. Selections may also move into Musique Dig’s Weekly Playlist and rotation on INYIM Radio.

WHY IT CAUGHT OUR EAR

“Adored” is J. Worra in her cleanest late-night lane: clipped house percussion, a bassline that keeps the floor moving and just enough tension to stop the track from getting too comfortable. Released July 1 through her own dialogxe imprint, it keeps the Chicago-born, Los Angeles-based producer firmly inside the classic-house-meets-modern-tech pocket she does so well.

WHY IT CAUGHT OUR EAR

“Sugar Trap” is all bounce, bass and flirtation with teeth. Produced by Dallas Caton, the track wraps candy-coated hooks around a sharper message about desire, attention and who actually gets access. It previews Stephens’ debut album AUDACITY, due September 25 via Raedio and Def Jam.

Come back for the next daily detour. Keep discovering in the Come Thru Vocals archive, hear the week’s six strongest finds in Musique Dig’s Weekly Playlist, and keep the music moving on INYIM Radio.
