George Michael: The Faith Tour is officially heading to cinemas later this year, bringing previously unseen footage from the superstar’s landmark 1988 solo tour to the big screen for the first time.
Universal Pictures Content Group has acquired international distribution rights, while Bleecker Street’s Crosswalk will handle North America. The worldwide theatrical rollout is planned for late 2026 in premium formats, with exclusive early-access IMAX screenings planned in the United States.

The Film Was Captured Across Two Paris Nights In 1988
The concert film is assembled from a 14-camera shoot captured on 35mm film over two nights at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy during the European leg of Michael’s Faith Tour.
The footage remained unreleased for decades before being rediscovered and restored for this theatrical presentation. Rather than simply transferring an old performance to a cinema screen, the production has been rebuilt as an immersive visual and audio experience designed to recover the scale, movement and command of Michael’s first solo tour.
The timing could not have been more defining. Michael was touring behind Faith, the album that completed his transformation from Wham! heartthrob into a songwriter, producer and solo performer operating entirely on his own terms.
Andy Morahan And David Austin Return To George’s Visual World
The film is directed by longtime George Michael collaborators Andy Morahan and David Austin.
Morahan directed several of Michael’s most recognizable music videos, including “Faith,” “Careless Whisper” and “Last Christmas,” while Austin previously directed George Michael: Freedom Uncut and George Michael at the Palais Garnier, Paris.
That continuity matters. The team is not approaching the footage as anonymous archival material, but as part of the carefully controlled visual language Michael built around his music and image.
Finding Faith Opens The Film With George’s Own Voice
The concert presentation will open with Finding Faith, an original short film directed by Mary McCartney.
The short features voiceover drawn from a previously unheard Michael interview, unseen photographs by Herb Ritts and behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the “Faith” music video.
That opening promises something more intimate before the arena lights rise: Michael reflecting in his own voice while Ritts’ imagery and the “Faith” video material reconnect audiences with the exact moment his solo identity came into focus.
The Set List Reaches Across Faith, Wham! And The Songs He Loved
The Paris performances include defining solo hits from the Faith era, including “Father Figure,” “One More Try,” “I Want Your Sex,” “Faith” and “Monkey.”
Michael also reaches back into the Wham! catalog for songs including “Everything She Wants,” “I’m Your Man,” “A Different Corner” and “Careless Whisper.”
The show widens further through covers that reveal the musical foundations beneath his own writing, including Stevie Wonder’s “Love’s in Need of Love Today,” Wild Cherry’s “Play That Funky Music” and the gloriously inevitable “Lady Marmalade.”
An Eighteen-Track Live Album Will Arrive With The Film
Alongside the theatrical release, George Michael Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment will release The Faith Tour, an 18-track live album featuring previously unreleased recordings from Michael’s solo and Wham! catalogs.
The album gives the project a second life beyond the cinema, allowing the restored performances to become part of Michael’s official recorded legacy rather than remain locked inside a limited theatrical event.
The Faith Tour Arrives In Theaters In Late 2026
George Michael: The Faith Tour is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release in late 2026. A specific release date and participating theaters will be announced later.
