George Michael

George Michael was an English singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist who rose to international prominence as half of Wham! with Andrew Ridgeley. Born in East Finchley, London, he established a major solo career with Faith (1987), an album that paired pop accessibility with soul, R&B and dance influences. He followed it with the introspective Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 (1990), Older (1996), Songs from the Last Century (1999) and Patience (2004). Known for his expressive voice, detailed production and songwriting, Michael also supported numerous charitable causes. He died on December 25, 2016, and was posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2023.
