Donna Summer

Donna Summer was an American singer and songwriter whose work helped define the disco era while pushing popular dance music toward electronic production. Born in Boston in 1948, she began performing professionally in Europe before collaborating with producer-songwriters Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte. Their work produced landmark recordings including “Love to Love You Baby” and “I Feel Love,” followed by major hits such as “Last Dance,” “Hot Stuff,” “Bad Girls,” and “She Works Hard for the Money.” Summer later explored rock, R&B, new wave, pop, and inspirational music. A five-time Grammy winner, she was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. Her recording career remained active through 2012.
