This Emu Had Absolutely No Interest in Cooperating With Police

Present-Day Developments: Woopsies! A quick and very cheeky emu managed to turn routine traffic control into one of the funniest police pursuits we have seen in a minute.
The runaway bird was spotted on Cargo Road in Nashdale, west of Orange in New South Wales, Australia, where it had begun blocking traffic and creating a hazard for motorists. Local police were called in, and one young constable decided the most practical solution was apparently: run after the emu.

A country-road traffic call somehow became officer versus emu — with the emu comfortably winning the speed category.

The footage, shared by NSW Police, shows the officer sprinting after the long-legged fugitive as cars wait along the road. No dramatic takedown was required: the chase did its job, with the officer successfully moving the emu away from traffic before anyone — feathered or otherwise — was hurt.
Chief Inspector David Abercrombie later joked that he was glad he was not the one asked to give chase, while confirming that both the officer and the bird came through the incident unharmed. The emu’s origin — and where exactly it wandered off to afterward — remained unclear.
Still, for a few glorious seconds, Australian policing became less crime procedural and more live-action Road Runner. The emu had legs, attitude and absolutely no intention of making this easy.
