Fujiya & Miyagi return with “Lowest Common Denominator,” a wiry, dance-minded single that previews New Shiny Object, their first album since 2022, due October 30, 2026.

Allow us to introduce you to — or properly reintroduce you to — Fujiya & Miyagi, the Brighton electronic outfit returning with the wonderfully dance-minded new single “Lowest Common Denominator.”

The track leads the way into New Shiny Object, Fujiya & Miyagi’s newly announced album arriving October 30, 2026 through the band’s own Impossible Objects of Desire label. It follows their 2022 album Slight Variations and finds the group slipping straight back into the wiry electronic, post-punk and motorik grooves they have been bending into their own shape for more than two decades.

The current lineup features David Best on vocals and guitar, Steve Lewis on keyboards and backing vocals, Ben Adamo on bass and backing vocals, and Ed Chivers on drums and backing vocals.

And there is no need to hunt for some giant philosophical statement inside the new track. Best has explained that the song’s main mission is a much simpler one: make people dance. We can work with that.

The band keeps the visual side just as direct, putting themselves front and center for the official “Lowest Common Denominator” video. Fujiya & Miyagi directed the clip, with filming and editing by Thomas Martin, lighting by Marcus Card and additional editing by Ed Chivers.
