The Owens Sisters Are Back — And Still Completely in Sync
Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock have spent nearly three decades making the Owens sisters feel like the kind of family members we somehow already know — and now, with Practical Magic 2 almost here, Vogue has put the pair together for a wonderfully loose round of rapid-fire questions.
The latest installment of Vogue’s “Off the Cuff” lets Kidman and Bullock bounce through everything from dream superpowers and childhood ambitions to Dune, Hugh Grant, famous movie wardrobes and the eternal challenge of trying to make an Australian accent sound American.

Things start lightly enough. Bullock’s table order is apparently ice cream with very long spoons, while Kidman says the superpower she would choose is the ability to heal. Then the conversation starts wandering exactly where you want two longtime co-stars to wander: old films, career memories and the weird little things they have learned along the way.
Kidman also reveals that she is a full-on Dune obsessive — a “Dunie,” as the conversation puts it — while Bullock names Hugh Grant as someone she would happily work with again after Two Weeks Notice. Kidman, meanwhile, reaches back to Moulin Rouge! when asked about one of her most stylish roles and admits she kept Satine’s top hat.
There is also something very satisfying about watching the two actresses sit across from each other with none of the stiff promotional machinery usually surrounding a giant studio sequel. They tease each other, drift off-script, talk over one another and somehow make the whole thing feel less like a press stop and more like two friends who happened to have cameras pointed at them.
The timing could not be better. Practical Magic 2 arrives in theaters September 11, 2026, reuniting Bullock and Kidman as Sally and Gillian Owens nearly 30 years after the 1998 original. The sequel also brings back Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest, with Joey King and Maisie Williams joining the next generation of the Owens family.
