Cardi B Assisted Janet Jackson in Joining Cher & Madonna in 5-Decade Club on Billboards Hot 100.

Living legend Janet Jackson extends her Billboard Hot 100 chart history into a fifth decade, thanks to her feature on Cardi B’s new song “Principal,” which debuts at No. 92 on the list dated Oct. 4.

Miss Jackson now joins the exclusive Cher and Madonna club—the only women to have new Hot 100 hits in five consecutive decades. Meanwhile, Dolly Parton’s history includes hits in five distinct decades, though not consecutively.

Thanks to “Principal,” Jackson earns her first Hot 100 credit since 2018’s “Made for Now,” a collaboration with Daddy Yankee. She has now charted in every decade since the 1980s, a feat few artists can claim.

The Cardi B–Jackson collabo appears on Cardi’s new album, Am I the Drama?, which debuts at No. 1 on this week’s Billboard 200 albums chart.

“Principal” features a sample of Jackson’s iconic “The Pleasure Principle,” from her groundbreaking 1986 album Control. That single climbed to No. 14 on the Hot 100 in 1987 and won Best Choreography at the 1988 MTV Video Music Awards.

Bravo-bravissima to the two songbirds
