Rêve Takes on the Record-Label Rulebook in New “Church of Sound” Video

Rêve has returned with “Church of Sound,” a sharp new single accompanied by a deliciously theatrical music video. Playing a pop star surrounded by fuddy-duddy record executives who seem determined to criticize her every move, Rêve turns industry scrutiny into a striking visual spectacle. Creative direction comes from Rêve herself, with Myles Hodder directing the video.

Rêve has returned with a new single and video for “Church of Sound,” released on October 23, 2026. And there is something especially satisfying about a dance-pop singer putting the people who think they know how to manufacture a star right under the spotlight.

In the video, the Canadian singer-songwriter plays a pop star at the mercy of a roomful of fuddy-duddy record executives, each seemingly equipped with another complaint about her image. They mark her every flaw, scrutinize the person in front of them and behave as though being a pop star is a boardroom project. It is the video’s storyline, a pointed piece of pop-world satire, rather than a claim about any particular real-life record label.

The set-up works because Rêve has never seemed particularly interested in making her personality smaller to fit somebody else’s expectations. Her sound draws from the sheen and physical thrill of dance-floor pop, with songs such as “CTRL + ALT + DEL” and “Contemporary Love” already showing how she can bring wit and bite to a big electronic hook. Her previous single, “Devour,” arrived in June with a dark, dance-driven video directed by Dan Lemoyne. Now “Church of Sound” turns that same theatrical instinct toward a roomful of industry critics.

“Church of Sound” leans into that tension between artistic instinct and industry approval. There is humor in the thought of executives treating charisma as something to be checked off on a form, but the premise also makes a familiar point: a singer’s distinctive edges are often the very things that make an artist worth listening to.

The new single is released through Physical Presents. The track runs approximately three minutes, but its accompanying visual has room for a little theatrical mischief—and for Rêve to push back against the idea that every move needs a committee’s blessing.

Inside Rêve’s “Church of Sound” Music Video

The scenes below come from the video’s imagined pop-industry world, where a performer and her supposed gatekeepers have very different ideas about who gets to define a star.

It is a fitting visual for an artist whose music is built to move people rather than satisfy a checklist. Here, that creative tug-of-war becomes the story itself.

Rêve also serves as creative director on the project, while Myles Hodder directs the music video. That combination makes the clip feel less like an anonymous promotional exercise and more like an artist staking out her own space.
