DJ Cassidy Is Turning Valentine’s Season Into One Giant R&B Reunion
It’s coming! DJ Cassidy is taking Pass the Mic Live! back on the road in 2024, and this time he is building two one-night-only celebrations around the R&B voices that helped shape the way an entire generation sings, dances and parties.
The newly announced shows land at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina, on February 9, 2024, followed by the Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land, Texas, on February 17. The concerts mark the first time Cassidy’s live series heads to North Carolina and Texas.

Twenty-Plus R&B Favorites Are Getting The Pass The Mic Treatment
Across the two dates, the announced lineup includes 112, 702, Adina Howard, After 7, Brownstone, Carl Thomas, Case, Christopher Williams, Donell Jones, Gina Thompson, H-Town, Jade, Jagged Edge, Jeff Redd, Montell Jordan, Mya, Shai, Shanice, Soul For Real, Sunshine Anderson and Troop.
The special-guest slot changes by city, with El DeBarge joining the Greensboro show and Teddy Riley appearing in Houston. That is a lot of slow jams, new jack swing, harmonies and “wait, they had THAT song too?” packed into two nights.
The Whole Idea Started In DJ Cassidy’s Living Room
Pass the Mic began during the COVID-19 shutdown as Cassidy linked up remotely with music legends and let each artist hand the spotlight to the next. What started as a stay-at-home celebration grew into a BET television series and eventually into full-scale live events.
By late 2023, the concept had already made the jump to sold-out stages, including a major Radio City Music Hall show in New York. Now Cassidy is stretching the format again with these new R&B-heavy dates in Greensboro and Houston.
DJ Cassidy Calls The Lineup A Celebration Of His R&B Heroes
“Uniting twenty-three of my R&B heroes for two epic celebrations of love will be a dream come true,” Cassidy said in announcing the dates. He added that the artists’ records have shaped not only the way he DJs, but the way he thinks about celebration itself.
Black Promoters Collective President Shelby Joyner also pointed to the success of Cassidy’s previous live shows, saying the partnership had already produced two sold-out events and that the team expected the same kind of response in both new markets.
