Melissa Auf der Maur

Melissa Auf der Maur is a Canadian bassist, singer-songwriter and visual artist from Montreal who played in Hole and toured with The Smashing Pumpkins before launching a solo career. Her 2004 debut Auf der Maur paired heavy alternative rock with melodic songwriting on tracks including “Followed the Waves” and “Taste You,” followed by the multimedia album Out of Our Minds in 2010. In 2026 she returned with Bass Womb Room, her first new music in roughly fifteen years, built from previously unreleased 1990s four-track demos and experimental field recordings.
