Fontaines D.C.

Fontaines D.C. are a Dublin, Ireland-based band formed in 2014 by Grian Chatten, Carlos O’Connell, Conor Curley, Conor Deegan III and Tom Coll. Their early work fused jagged guitars, driving rhythms and Chatten’s poetic vocal delivery, establishing a distinct strain of Irish post-punk on the Mercury Prize-nominated debut Dogrel (2019). The band broadened that foundation across A Hero’s Death (2020) and Skinty Fia (2022), the latter reaching number one in the UK and Ireland. Romance (2024), their first album for XL Recordings, expanded their palette through more atmospheric, electronic and melodic textures. Fontaines D.C. remain an active five-piece whose music connects Dublin identity, alienation, ambition and emotional dislocation.
