Deborah Cox is a Canadian singer-songwriter and actor whose powerhouse voice has connected R&B, pop, house and dance music since the 1990s. Born in Toronto, she worked as a backing vocalist before releasing her self-titled debut in 1995. Her second album One Wish produced the signature ballad “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here” as well as “We Can’t Be Friends,” while dance remixes and later releases made Cox a particularly enduring presence in club culture alongside her successful stage career.
