The title track from her upcoming 10th studio album arrives with a polished pop-meets-post-punk pulse, a bass-forward groove, and a music video directed by Mert Alas that leans into fashion, movement and a sharper club-ready edge.
By now, Miley has never really needed to be the “best” dancer, singer or entertainer in some technical scoreboard sense. What she has always had is something harder to fake: the ability to be completely Miley. Country roots, Malibu cool, rock-star rasp, pop instincts, a little hee-haw and a lot of nerve — she tends to make the contradictions work because she actually owns them.
“Bass Persuades” pushes that identity into a cleaner, more controlled lane. The synths pulse, the chorus is immediate, and yes, there is actual choreography in the mix. For someone who has spent years joking about not being a dancer, Miley looks very willing to prove the title wrong when she sings that “the kids don’t wanna dance.”
The song is the first preview of Bass Persuades, due September 18, 2026 via Atlantic Records. The album follows 2025’s Something Beautiful and opens another fast-moving chapter for an artist who has spent the last few years refusing to stay parked in one sound for very long.
