Robert Irwin Spills On Unexpected Individual Who Helped Him Connect With His Late Dad.

Robert Irwin says Russell Crowe helped him understand his dad’s legacy in a way no one else could. “He’s been there to keep my dad alive in my life.”

Robert Irwin spilled that a famous actor family friend played a powerful role in helping him comprehend his father’s legacy.

Who is it you ask?! It’s none other than incomparable actor Russell Crowe.

Robbie chatted with People on how the craftsman gave a lending ear and voice to keep his late father Steve Irwin’s legacy rolling.

“I’ve known him for as long as I’ve been alive,” Irwin shared of Russell. “I have some very early memories, actually. Some of the earliest memories of me with my dad were also with Russell, which is really special.”

“I’m really grateful that I have someone in my life who … he’s actually been there to, in a way, keep my dad alive in my life.”

“He has so many stories to share of him and dad, and I feel like I build an even better picture of my dad when I’m around Russell.”

Irwin interestingly said Crowe has given him a unique perspective on his father—different from his mother and sister Bindi.

“Russell and dad were just great mates, so it’s a different perspective than when you’re hearing about your mom. It’s meaningful. He’s someone that I look up to and has truly inspired me.”

(ICYMI: Russell Crowe and Steve Irwin were longtime friends, often spotted together at conservation events and on shared wildlife missions. Crowe even paid tribute to Steve after his passing in 2006, calling him “the ultimate wildlife warrior.”)

From crocodile wrangling to emotional wrangling—Russell Crowe’s got range. Which Irwin memory still gets you misty-eyed? Sound off in the comments.
