Vintage Watchable: Allow us to reintroduce you to, The Sisters G. Eleanor (b.1909) and Karla (b.1910) Gutöhrlein. We recently screened these two sensations. Sprightfully singing in English & German in a number in the groundbreaking “Happy Feet” in “King of Jazz”, (1930.)
“King of Jazz”, was a Technicolor musical revue movie and released in color in 1930 by Universal, Hollywood. A S’wonderful restored version in 2016 was coordinated by film historian David Stenn. Born in 🇩🇪 a year apart, Eleanor and Karla were often thought to be twins.
They’re signature showcased a mix of comedy skits, dancing, and musical performances, often extravagant and a few somewhat surreal.
