Siouxsie Sioux Quietly Turns Up for PETA — Name Tag and All
It was a rare and quietly powerful moment: Siouxsie Sioux, punk siren, post-punk architect and lifelong visual original, turned up at PETA’s 45th anniversary celebration in London on September 20, 2025.
No performance. No dramatic entrance. No attempt to turn the room into a press event. Just Siouxsie moving through the gathering with the kind of understated presence that still carries decades of cultural weight. And then there was the detail that made the photos even better: her name tag simply read “Susan.”
The event, held at London’s Law Society building, brought together nearly 100 PETA supporters to mark 45 years of the organization’s animal-rights work. PETA itself singled Siouxsie out among the afternoon’s animal advocates, noting that Siouxsie and the Banshees’ “Skin” became an anthem against the fur trade.

Her appearance also wasn’t some newly discovered cause. Siouxsie’s relationship with animal-rights activism stretches back decades. Beyond “Skin” appearing on PETA US’s 1987 Animal Liberation benefit album, she has worked with PETA on campaigns against animal testing, foie gras and the use of real bearskin for the King’s Guard caps.
That history is what makes the 2025 appearance feel less like a novelty and more like continuity. The setting may have been softer than the clubs and stages that made her famous, but the principle underneath it was very much the same: show up for what you believe in and don’t bother making it polite for anybody else.
And for anyone tempted to frame Siouxsie’s 2023 Cruel World return in Pasadena as some final chapter, not quite. That performance was her first U.S. show in 15 years and her only North American date of 2023, but she continued performing in Europe later that year. The PETA appearance works better as what it actually was: a rare public sighting from an artist who has always chosen her moments carefully.
This PETA sighting wasn’t really about legacy. It was about presence — and one wonderfully ordinary little name tag on one of punk’s least ordinary figures.
