Divorce Court Just Became Television’s Sharpest New Battlefield

Forever ends here—and apparently it brought lawyers. Sienna Miller and Dominic West are turning one spectacularly messy split into WAR, the new legal drama arriving October 1 on HBO Max in the U.S.
The eight-part first season enters the elite, ruthless world of two rival London law firms: Cathcarts & Sons and Taylor & Byrne. Their headline case is the explosive divorce of British tech entrepreneur Morgan Henderson (West) and international film star Carla Duval (Miller). Love may be over, but the fight for money, reputation and control is only warming up.

WAR comes from creator, writer and executive producer George Kay, whose credits include Lupin, Hijack and The Long Shadow. Ben Taylor, known for Sex Education and Catastrophe, serves as lead director. The setup promises realism with a satirical edge as both firms chase victory by any means necessary.
Caught between the legal heavyweights is ambitious young lawyer Jonathan “Johnny” Warren, played by Archie Renaux. Phoebe Fox and James McArdle play Taylor & Byrne partners Serena Byrne and Nicholas Taylor, while Nina Sosanya and Pip Torrens face them from the Cathcarts side as Beatrice “Queen Bea” Ubosi and St John Smallwood.
One Divorce, Two Firms and Absolutely No Clean Hands

The ensemble also includes Celia Imrie, Nick Mohammed, Emma Laird, Archie Panjabi, Adrian Scarborough, Shaheen Jafargholi, Akiya Henry, Honor Swinton Byrne, Miles Jupp and more. Rather than wrapping everything up after one courtroom bloodbath, the series was ordered for two seasons. Season two is already in production with Marisa Tomei, Kelly Macdonald and David Harewood set to lead a new defamation case.
Sky and HBO are positioning WAR as a returning anthology built around headline-making legal battles. Season one begins streaming on HBO Max October 1 in the U.S.; it launches weekly on Sky and NOW October 2 in the UK.
