At the time, Lucid was a 20-year-old Dominican-Mexican singer-songwriter from New Jersey stepping into a larger new chapter. “Get Lost In The Music” introduced her signing with 300 Entertainment and previewed the five-song EP of the same name, released on June 18, 2021.
The song was written by Ambar Cruz, Jack Brady and Jordan Roman and produced by Los Angeles duo The Wavys. Together they build something that struts rather than rushes: a rolling rhythm section, vintage-toned keys and psychedelic flourishes carrying a message about ego, conformity and the difference between merely existing and actually living.
Then Lucid lands on the question that gives the entire song its backbone: “What’s the point of living if you’re already dead?” It is not a nihilistic throwaway.
