The upcoming NEON stoner comedy comes from writer-director Dylan Meyer, making her feature directorial debut with a best-friend disaster movie built around paycheck-to-paycheck living, bong-rip survival, mistaken identity, and two girls who seem deeply unqualified for the mess that just found them.

The setup is deliciously simple: two codependent besties are barely holding adulthood together when a case of mistaken identity turns their lives upside down. From there, the trailer starts cooking with chaotic friendship, bad decisions, experimental-drug energy, and the sort of “we absolutely should not be involved in this” panic that makes a comedy trailer start doing push-ups.
NEON’s official trailer confirms The Wrong Girls opens only in theaters on August 14, 2026. Alongside Stewart and Shawkat, the cast includes LaKeith Stanfield, Tony Hale, Zack Fox, Seth Rogen, Kumail Nanjiani, Kate McKinnon, and Geena Davis. A stacked mess? We do love a stacked mess.
