Jabberin’ Jack apparently has a very adult Halloween side
You buy a talking pumpkin for Halloween, you expect spooky jokes, silly faces and maybe a song or two. What you probably don’t expect is for the pumpkin to suddenly start sounding like it has plans after midnight.
That is exactly why Jabberin’ Jack, Mindscope Products’ animated singing Halloween decoration, is getting fresh attention after TikTok creator Styled Between Naps (@glow.up.between.naps) warned parents about one of the songs buried in its rotation.

In her viral warning, the mother of three tells viewers to listen before buying the decoration for a home with children. The song starts off lonely and theatrical enough, but then Jack starts offering kisses, talking about being “wicked for one night” and eventually promising “roasted pumpkin seeds.”
And yes, the innuendo gets less subtle the longer it goes. Suddenly this cheerful porch pumpkin is delivering a Halloween seduction number that feels very different from the family-friendly talking-and-joking decoration being advertised.
The moment quickly took off online. Recent reporting puts the TikTok at more than a million views, with parents and viewers split between genuinely being bothered by the lyrics and laughing at the sheer absurdity of a jack-o’-lantern getting this suggestive.
So what exactly is Jabberin’ Jack?
Mindscope markets Jabberin’ Jack as an animated Halloween decoration with a built-in projector and speaker. The company’s current product page says the standard pumpkin comes with three personalities, nine original songs and more than 40 jokes and phrases per character, while newer versions advertise more than 80 minutes of animations, singing, talking and joking.
It is technically sold as seasonal décor rather than a children’s toy, but the company also promotes it as something to place indoors or on a covered porch for trick-or-treaters. That is where the parent concern becomes pretty easy to understand: kids are clearly expected to be within earshot of Jack doing his thing.
The song itself also is not brand new. Reporting around the renewed controversy traces “Wicked for One Night” back several years, with similar parent warnings surfacing before the latest TikTok sent the pumpkin back into the spotlight.
Mindscope says the song is leaving future versions
Mindscope founder and president George Balanchi has now responded. In a statement to USA TODAY, Balanchi said the company hears the concerns parents have raised and apologized for the discomfort the song caused.
He explained that the music and animations were originally created by outside creators in 2020 and became part of a content package Mindscope acquired in 2022. The company understood the song as playful Halloween humor, he said, but now recognizes that families may hear it very differently. Most importantly, Balanchi said Mindscope takes responsibility for the content.
Mindscope says a new Jabberin’ Jack version is already being developed for Halloween 2027, and this particular song will not make the cut. Balanchi said the company will directly oversee the new music and lyrics going forward.
That is probably the most sensible ending to this whole pumpkin saga. Parents get the warning, the company gets the message and Jabberin’ Jack gets a new set list. Because there is campy Halloween humor — and then there is having to explain to a child why the porch pumpkin is singing about what exactly he plans to do with those seeds.
For now, the current version is still out there, so consider this the pre-porch audition notice: maybe run through Jack’s playlist before he gets the prime trick-or-treating shift.
