Motorsport protection gets pulled off the track and onto the street

Dig out thee hot and very sculpted footwear collision between HELIOT EMIL and Alpinestars RSRV. The two labels are back inside their ongoing The Art of Protection conversation, once again asking what happens when equipment engineered for speed, impact and protection leaves the racetrack and starts moving through everyday life.
This latest chapter officially launches August 23 and introduces two footwear silhouettes shaped by the brands’ shared fixation on technical construction. Instead of disguising the protective systems and structural elements that inspire the shoes, the collaboration pushes those details forward and lets the engineering become part of the look.

The idea is bigger than simply making racing gear fashionable. Alpinestars brings decades of motorsport research, protective equipment and ergonomic systems into the project, while HELIOT EMIL filters that hardware-minded thinking through its stark, industrial design language.
The result sits in that very HELIOT EMIL space where utility becomes silhouette. Performance-driven components, engineered materials and construction lines are allowed to remain visible rather than being polished away. What once existed only to protect or perform becomes part of the shoe’s identity.
Creative director Julius Juul has framed the partnership around the way objects change when they leave their original environment — and how utility, form and gesture can continue to coexist after that shift. Here, that means taking the logic of equipment built for extreme conditions and asking how much of its original purpose can survive inside an urban wardrobe.

That push-and-pull is what makes the collaboration interesting. There is no attempt to make the shoes look quietly luxurious or traditionally refined. They are supposed to feel engineered, protective and slightly confrontational — footwear that looks as though somebody took the inside of a high-performance system and decided the mechanics deserved to be seen.
The partnership is also not new territory for either brand. HELIOT EMIL and Alpinestars RSRV have spent several seasons exploring protection, repurposed motorsport materials and the tension between form and function. The Art of Protection sharpens that dialogue by putting footwear at the center.
