“feifeiyang Fall/Winter 2016 collection titled “Touching You Through to the Bone”, is inspired by ancient Greek mythology. The collection endeavours to depict the interesting contradictions of humanity: the co-existence of good and evil, desire and jealousy, war and peace, masculinity and femininity.
The designs embody the stories and personalities of Greek mythology’s main characters, including Zeus, Athena and Artemis. By individually highlighting the garment’s functional parts, from drawstrings to pockets, and applying a wide range of pattern techniques, the collection achieves a variety of visual styles.
The FW collection also reconstructs traditional elements of menswear and womenswear, creating an aestheticism inspired by gender equality. The handicrafts adopted in this collection have been co-developed with artisans from the Dong and Miao ethnic groups based in Guizhou, China. The designer merges traditional ethnic craftsmanship, including hand dyeing with plant-based dyes, hand weaving and Duixiu (a type of embroidery traditionally applied to Thangkas), with modern menswear designs, creating a style that is rebellious yet elegant.” – FY Magazine.es
