Renowned soul singer and artist Brenton Wood, known for his 1967 hit “Oogum Boogum Song,” passed away at the age of 83. He died at his home in Moreno Valley, 63 miles east of Los Angeles, according to his manager, Manny Gallegos.
Wood was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and raised in the coastal Los Angeles neighborhood of San Pedro. He attended high school and Compton College in Compton.
Woods was heavily involved in the local LA music scene for the past 60 years and was a favorite on the “oldies’ circuit and his music will remain on play for countless numbers of fans around the world.
