Michelle Branch and New Radicals Bring “The Game of Love” Full Circle

This one is a total Back to the Future mind warp. Michelle Branch has teamed with New Radicals frontman Gregg Alexander for a newly reimagined version of “The Game of Love,” bringing one of her biggest early-2000s hits back to the songwriter who helped create it in the first place.

Alexander co-wrote the original song with Rick Nowels before it became the 2002 Santana and Michelle Branch smash that reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and later won the Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.

Branch calls the new duet a “full-circle moment,” noting that plenty of listeners never realized Alexander was one of the song’s original writers. This time, instead of staying behind the scenes, he is right there singing it with her.

Michelle Branch Looks Back While Moving Forward

The recording is the first taste of Branch’s upcoming Everywhere and Back Again EP, arriving November 6, 2026 via BMG. The project celebrates 25 years of her career by revisiting songs including “Everywhere,” “All You Wanted,” “Goodbye to You” and “Breathe” with new collaborators and fresh arrangements.

She is taking that anniversary on the road, too. The Everywhere and Back Again Tour launches September 27 in Seattle and runs through November, including an October 3 stop at The Wiltern in Los Angeles.

Alexander is having his own unexpected return-to-the-spotlight moment. New Radicals recently released “One Night Only (Break Loose Break Free!),” their first original song in 28 years, for the soundtrack to the film One Night Only. Billboard also notes that Alexander has been discussing another new song that name-checks Kurt Cobain, adding even more late-’90s alternate-universe energy to this whole comeback.

For Branch, though, “The Game of Love” is the perfect place to start. A song she first stepped into at the beginning of her career now comes back around with one of its original architects standing beside her. Twenty-four years later, the game apparently still has a few moves left.
