Sabrina Carpenter Just Added Emmy Winner to Her Résumé
Pop princess Sabrina Carpenter is officially an Emmy winner. The singer, performer and increasingly decorated multi-hyphenate picked up her first Emmy for The Muppet Show, adding television gold to a trophy shelf that already includes two Grammys.
The win came during night one of the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on September 5, where The Muppet Show won Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded). Carpenter received the Emmy as one of the special’s executive producers as well as its featured performer. The Television Academy now officially lists her with one nomination and one Emmy win.

And Sabrina was not celebrating alone. The 2026 Muppets special had a very good Emmy night, winning four awards from six nominations: Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), Writing for a Variety Special, Picture Editing for Variety Programming and Production Design for a Variety Special.
The Disney+ and ABC special premiered February 4 as a 50th-anniversary return to the original Muppet Show format, bringing Kermit, Miss Piggy and the gang back to the Muppet Theatre with Carpenter as the special guest star. She also served as an executive producer alongside a team that included Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Alex Timbers and longtime Muppets creatives.
So naturally, when the win became official, Sabrina celebrated in exactly the right Muppet spirit.
On her Instagram Story, Carpenter thanked the Television Academy and wrote that she was “so incredibly proud of the whole muppets crew”, adding that plenty of love, happiness, hard work and — most importantly — “diva fights” went into making the special.
That “diva fights” line feels especially correct for a production involving Miss Piggy. But underneath the joke is a legitimate career milestone. Carpenter’s Emmy came for producing the special, not simply for appearing in it, giving her a major television award in a creative role behind the camera as well as in front of it.
It also puts the 27-year-old halfway to one of entertainment’s most famous grand slams: EGOT status. Carpenter already has the E and the G — an Emmy plus her Grammy wins — leaving a Tony and an Oscar if she ever decides she would like to complete thee entire alphabet soup.
And The Muppet Show itself proved this was more than a nostalgia exercise. Disney described the 32-minute special as a return to the classic variety-show structure, complete with music, comedy sketches and backstage chaos, while bringing the characters back to television for a new generation.
For Sabrina, the Emmy also lands during a stretch in which the once-Disney kid has become one of pop’s dominant personalities without losing the comedic timing that has always been part of her appeal. Pairing her with the Muppets was less random stunt casting than it first sounded. She understands the assignment: sing beautifully, commit to the bit and never act like any of this is too ridiculous.
