A Masked “Time Traveler” Says He Saw 2118, But We’re Getting Full Dick Tracy Villain Energy

Known online as Alexander Smith, the masked man at the center of this viral oddity claims he is from the future — or, more specifically, that he was sent to the year 2118 through a classified CIA experiment.
What we are seeing, however, is less airtight evidence of time travel and more Dick Tracy character wandering out of a 1990 crime-action fever dream.
The whole thing comes courtesy of the YouTube conspiracy lane, with ApexTV presenting Smith’s story as one of those “what if?” internet rabbit holes built for late-night scrolling, raised eyebrows, and group-chat commentary.
According to Smith’s claim, he was transported to 2118 by the CIA back in 1981. He also reportedly brings up World War III, future cities, secret technology, and all the grand conspiracy trimmings that make these stories travel fast online.
To be clear: this is not proof of anything except the internet’s permanent love affair with mysterious men in masks making enormous claims. Still, as a piece of campy paranormal theatre, the presentation is undeniably something.
Latex mask. Secret agency. Far-future warnings. A photo that is supposed to carry the whole premise. It is the kind of story that practically begs for a dramatic zoom, a suspicious synthesizer sting, and someone whispering, “Sure, Jan.”
Fun in theory? Absolutely. Fully believable? We will gently leave that parked somewhere between tabloid spectacle and retro sci-fi improv. But never say never — after the last few years, reality has not exactly been acting normal either.
